Ranveer Singh feels Bollywood lacks original content
Bollywood star Ranveer Singh has opened up about the state of films being churned out of the Indian film industry.
Talking to The Indian Express, Singh said, I find there to be a dearth of unique stories. I find there to be a dearth of writers and writing original material something that I spoke at a intellectual conclave and the take away that I wanted to give to the audience was that we need to value our writers and encourage them to come up with original content. I do believe that content is king.”
Singh has been riding high on the success of Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s ‘Bajirao Mastani’. He said he wanted to have mixture of commercial commercial and unconventional range of films, I want to try and give mainstream credibility to unconventional subjects. I want to have that balance of a credible film that also has its commercial chops in the sense that it appeals to a broad audience and having a wider appeal. I find myself being drawn more and more to films that have wide appeal and it doesn۪t necessarily mean that they have to be brainless but I find myself committed to putting things out there that entertain a broad spectrum of audience so that kids as well as adults also watch it. It should appeal to everyone.”
