Rajiv Rai threatens Dharma Productions with legal action over ‘Saat Samundar’ music
Filmmaker Rajiv Rai has expressed strong displeasure over the unauthorised use of the iconic ‘Saat Samundar’ beats in the teaser of upcoming film ‘Tu Meri Main Tera’. The 32‑second clip featured the opening notes of the chartbuster from Rai’s 1992 blockbuster ‘Vishwatma’, sparking immediate controversy.
Rai has instructed his legal team to notify Dharma Productions, which is backing the project, as well as music label Saregama, regarding what he considers a clear violation.
According to the filmmaker, while Saregama holds rights to some of his songs, his agreement with the label did not include any provision permitting their use in other films. Rai has insisted that the matter be addressed formally, signalling potential legal action if the issue is not resolved.
