Producer Vipul Shah expects demonetisation to ‘hit’ ‘Force 2’

Force 2 - John Abraham, Sonu Nigam, Tahir Raj Bhasin

The demonetisation of high currency notes, Rs 500 and Rs 1,000 notes, announced on 8th November by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, is likely to affect the success of ‘Force 2’, according to producer Vipul Shah.

Quoted by Indian Express, the filmmaker stated, “There might be some loss. It’s been 10 days… and people are facing this problem and I think Indians want to come out of this (problem) and get themselves entertained. We hope to contribute towards reducing the stress of people through our film.”

Despite the expected slump, ‘Force 2’ stars John Abraham and Sonakshi Sinha appeared to welcome the move. Abraham, who also featured in the first instalment, ‘Force’ (2011), expressed, “Force 2 is an important film for India. In clean (white) India, this is the first legitimate film. It’s a game-changing film. This is the first film that is releasing after the demonetisation move (announced on Nov 8). People want some relief and so they can come and watch Force 2.”

Sinha, whilst agreeing with the statement, added, “We should support this (move) as there will be lesser cases of corruption and black money.”
