Priyanka Chopra feels that her upcoming film ‘Bajirao Mastani’ and ‘Dilwale’ are the movies of different genres and hence have no competition with each other.

“I don’t think we are competing. I think both are beautiful and different kind of films. The genres of both the films are different, made by two prolific filmmakers. It has been made out as a competition, but it is not,” Chopra told Mid-Day.

She said that film like ‘Bajirao Mastani’ doesn’t even need promotion. “Being a part of this film, I would try to promote it as much as I can. We have Bajirao and Mastani, Sanjay Sir and I to promote the film. But, this product doesn’t need much promotion. When it is played, it speaks for itself,” she said.

The 33-year old admitted that she was the first, to be casted for the film and she knew that she will have to play Kashi. She said that while shooting ‘Mary Kom’ (2014), Sanjay Leela Bhansali told her about the film and at that time she had not known who would play Bajirao and Mastani.

Chopra, who played strong characters in films like ‘Mary Kom’ and Don series, feels that playing a gentle character of Kashi Bai was challenging for her. “For me it was tempting to play a character (Kashi Bai) as it never got voice in history. I have always played strong characters. It was difficult to play a gentle character like this. But I would be open to play Bajirao and Mastani,”

Rohit Shetty’s much awaited film, ‘Dilwale’ and Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s, ‘Bajirao Masatani’ are all set for a huge clash at the Bollywood box office on 18th December. Dilwale stars the iconic jodi of Shah Rukh Khan and Kajol, while Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone are playing the lead roles in ‘Bajirao Mastani’.
