Priyanka Chopra Jonas’ Ma Sheela biopic currently on hold

It had been announced a year ago that Priyanka Chopra Jonas was going to play Ma Sheela, a controversial figure notorious for her red-handed involvement in the 1984 Rajneeshee bioterror attack. The film was to be helmed by Oscar-winner Barry Levinson, but little ground has been gained since that announcement.

There are some possible reasons why the film has not come to fruition as of yet. One reason is that Ma Sheela has been wanting creative control over the role, allegedly; another is that Chopra-Jonas simply wishes to focus on other matters, like starting a family with her husband Nick Jonas.

The project being dropped altogether is currently loose conjecture, though, since Chopra Jonas still holds the film rights for a Ma Sheela film.
