Padmini drops out of Sony TV’s Ekta show

Popular film actress Padmini Kolhapure has dropped out of Sony Entertainment Television Asia’s soon to launch ‘Kuch Is Tarah’ show.

According to Mumbai Mirror, Ekta Kapoor’s Balaji Telefilms refused to pay the actress an astronomical amount that she was demanding. Padmini has been replaced by Jayati Bhatia.

Whilst viewers have been anticipating the small screen debut of Padmini, they will just have to wait a little longer. Earlier, Padmini was meant to take on the revised role of Tulsi in ‘Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi’, which subsequently went to Gautami Kapoor.

The source said that Padmini demanded Rs 2 lakh per day.

“We were shocked to hear the amount. Even Smriti Irani was not paid more than Rs 70,000 per day for Kyunki_. We knew that Padmini will demand a high amount, little did we realise it will be so high. It was beyond our budget. We expected her to have a fair knowledge of the difference between the small and big screen budgets. Finally, we had to drop the idea of taking her since she was not willing to compromise on the amount. Now, Jayati Bhatia is playing her character and she is fabulous,” adds the source.
