Overnights: ‘Nach Baliye 6’ soars; ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ success

The return of ‘Nach Baliye’ for its sixth season is proving to be a goldmine for Star Plus after nearly doubling the audience for the 21:00 slot on both Saturday and Sunday.

According to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia, ‘Nach Baliye 6’ last night drew 181,900 viewers – peaking at 265,500 viewers – the biggest reality success for the channel since ‘MasterChef India’. ‘Arjun’ earlier at 20:00 did well too with 88,000 viewers.

On Sony SAB TV, the free-to-air premiere of ‘Jab Tak Hai Jaan’ starring Shah Rukh Khan, Katrina Kaif and Anushka Sharma yesterday at 16:30 pulled in an impressive 78,900 despite no promotions for the film. It was the most watched Bollywood movie on Sunday on UK Asian television.

On Colors, special guest Sunny Deol on ‘Bigg Boss 7’ was also quite popular pulling in 94,700 viewers at 21:00, followed by ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ featuring Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone with 92,200 viewers.

On Rishtey, Pakistani drama ‘Mere Qatil Mere Dildar’ at 20:30 was watched by 54,300 viewers, while ‘Aamne Samne’ at 21:30 got 27,200 viewers.

On Lamhe, ‘Malgudi Days’ at 19:00 was watched by 6,500 viewers, while the classic film ‘Andaz’ starring Rajesh Khanna and Hema Malini was viewed by 28,000 viewers.
