ZEE Network’s free-to-air entertainment channel, Lamhe has managed to top the UK Asian ratings (Sunday 6th October), according to a release by the company.

It was the UK۪s top viewed Asian channel yesterday, with a host of shows outperforming rival channels and the evening movie and newly launched show, ‘Malgudi Days’, attracting a large share of the Asian audience.

Launched earlier this year, Lamhe showcases only the best of South-Asian entertainment, free, with classic dramas, path-setting Bollywood classics, plus lifestyle, travel, cookery and more. The channel is aimed at people who simply love drama and want to watch critically-acclaimed shows and movies that have defined the landscape of South Asian television.

Fulfilling this aim, Lamhe has launched a new series this month ‘Malgudi Days’, a show originally aired on Doordarshan India. A favourite for many, ‘Malgudi Days’ is a collection of popular short stories taken from the books by India۪s renowned author R. K. Narayan. The stories are all set in the fictional town of Malgudi located in South India.

Archana Kanade, Business Head – Free-To-Air Channels, “Lamhe has added great value to the UK۪s Asian TV audience; right from launch the channel has created a connection with the audience by giving them what they want to watch. In a market that is crowded with very similar programming, Lamhe offers a different viewing experience, which is striking the perfect chord with the viewers. It۪s great to see Lamhe۪s hand-picked shows performing well and reigning the market.۝
