Overnights: ‘Madhubala’ ends on low; Star Plus rules

Colors’ much loved show ‘Madhubala’ bid adieu to viewers on a low note, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia.

The final episode, which aired at 19:00 last night drew in just 7,700 viewers – peaking at 22,300 viewers. The show had struggled in the UK Asian TV ratings and slipped in India too. It will be replaced with extended editions of ‘Sasural Simar Ka’ and ‘Balika Vadhu’ this week before ‘Udaan’ takes its permanent position in the schedule from Monday 18th August.

Colors’ top rated show last night was ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ with 54,200 viewers – peaking at 78,700 viewers, followed by ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ at 22:30 with 32,000 viewers and ‘Shastri Sisters’ at 20:30 in third with 27,900 viewers.

Star Plus upped its audience last night with ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ topping the ratings, which got 183,300 viewers, followed by ‘Mahabharat’ with 149,700 viewers and ‘Ek Hasina Thi’ in third with 137,400 viewers. ‘Yeh Hai Mohabbatein’ also performed well with 133,800 viewers at 23:00.

ON Rishtey, discussion show ‘Aamna Saamna’ was top with 30,200 viewers, followed by new Pakistani drama ‘Numm’ starring Fawad Khan with 18,100 viewers at 20:30.

On Hum Europe, the repeat episode of ‘Laa’ performed exceptionally well with 65,200 viewers averaging at 23:30 – the biggest ever audience for the channel.
