Overnights: ‘India’s Dancing Superstar’ slumps to low

'India's Dancing Superstar' does well in UK ratings
'India's Dancing Superstar' does well in UK ratings

It was the battle of reality TV shows last night and early figures suggest that the competition has had an affect on the ratings of Star Plus’ ‘India’s Dancing Superstar’.

On Saturday 1st June, ‘India’s Dancing Superstar’ extended episode had to compete with the launch of ‘Indian Idol Junior’ on Sony Entertainment Television Asia, ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ on Colors and ‘Dance India Dance Super Moms’ on ZEE TV. Whilst the other channels do not register to official measuring body, BARB in the UK, its unfair to assume that it was the three new shows that impacted Star Plus’ ratings. However, one thing, which is a fact, is that last night’s episode of ‘India’s Dancing Superstar’ got the lowest ratings since the show began.

‘India’s Dancing Superstar’, which ran between 21:00 and 23:30 on Star Plus got an average viewership of just 70,200 viewers – peaking at 138,500 viewers. ‘Arjun’, which aired at 23:30 could only manage to attract 40,600 viewers.

Last year’s ‘Jhalka Dikhhla Jaa’ repeat on Rishtey managed to garner 78,300 viewers – peaking at 116,500 viewers. Its the first time Rishtey has beaten Star Plus UK in the Saturday night ratings in months. Pakistani drama ‘Mera Naseeb’ pulled in 11,500 viewers at 20:30.

On Star Life Ok, ‘Savdhaan India’ at 22:00 attracted 33,000 viewers, followed by ‘Shapath’ at 21:00 with 12,300 viewers.

Above data is an overnight rating and may change slightly after consolidated figures become available in seven days from BARB.
