The Indian Film Academy Awards 2014 (IIFA) was easily the most watched show on UK Asian television on Sunday night, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia.
Even though the awards proved a hit for Star Plus, the numbers were considerably down from when the event was telecast on the channel last year. IIFA 2014 pulled in 126,400 viewers – peaking at 191,500 viewers between 20:00 – 23:30. Comparing the data, IIFA 2013 did reasonably better with 201,200 viewers.
The Green Carpet event hosted by TV favourites Karan Tacker and Nakuul Mehta at 19:00 drew in just 29,600 viewers, while the post IIFA 2014 ‘Magical Moments’ event pulled in 29,800 viewers at 23:30.
It was a disappointing night for Colors last night with a measly 12,600 viewers tuning into ‘Jhalak Dikhhla Jaa’ at 21:00 – peaking at 31,900 viewers. ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’ at 22:30 raked in 29,700 viewers and ‘Mission Sapne’ at 20:00 got 20,300 viewers.
On Rishtey, discussion show ‘Aamne Saamne’ pulled in 28,000 viewers at 21:30, followed by Pakistani drama ‘Aasmano Pe Likha Hai’ with just 8,900 viewers at 20:30.
