Zing’s experiment in local drama production has ended with ‘Cloud 9’ bowing out last night on a quiet note, according to exclusive data obtained by BizAsia.

The final episode of the British Asian drama, which was aired at 18:30 last night pulled in just 2,500 viewers – peaking at 14,700 viewers. The repeat episode at 22:30 rated zero. ‘Cloud 9’, which has proved a decent attempt by the channel to promote local talent, has failed to generate an audience big enough to compete with other shows. The channel is likely to bring back another series in the next few months but this is yet to be officially announced.

On Star Plus, ‘Saathiya’ thrashed all opposition by netting in 231,500 viewers at 19:00 – peaking at 268,000 viewers. This was followed by ‘SaraswatiChandra’ with 196,600 viewers and ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’ with 164,400 viewers.

The others in the pecking order were ‘Diya Aur Baati Hum’ (162,000), ‘Meri Bhabhi’ (155,500), ‘Veera’ (139,500), ‘Ek Ghar Banaunga’ (137,800), ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ (133,100) and ‘Ek Hazaaron Mein Meri Behna Hai’ (122,600).

On Rishtey, ‘Bani – Ishq Da Kalma’ proved a success again with 120,400 viewers, followed by ‘Bairi Piya’ with 68,900 viewers and ‘Jeevan Saathi’ next with 59,400 viewers.

On Star Life Ok, ‘Devon Ka Dev Mahadev’ was in lead again with 45,900 viewers, followed by ‘Amrit Manthan’ second with 39,800 viewers and ‘Kaisa Yeh Ishq Hai’ with 9,100 viewers.
