Next & Asos drop Boohoo after employment exploitation claims

Retail outlets Next, Asos and Zalando have dropped items sold by Boohoo from their websites after claims of the company exploiting their staff were released.

According to BBC, Boohoo have been accused of paying their factory staff in Leicester around £3.50 an hour, and were given no protection under the coronavirus lockdown rules. There were previous claims that employees were forced to work even when they were ill.

Boohoo which also owns PrettyLittleThings and Nasty Gal have claimed they were unaware of the conditions and are looking into the case. “We will not hesitate to immediately terminate relationships with any supplier who is found not to be acting within both the letter and spirit of our supplier code of conduct”, a spokesperson was reported stating.

Boohoo is owned by British Asian billionaire, Mahmud Kamani.
