NDTV 24×7 rapped by Ofcom for retention of recordings

NDTV 24X7 has been pulled up by Ofcom for not being able to produce recordings from its output on the media regulator’s request.

Ofcom received a complaint that advertising had been broadcast during a news programme. Ofcom requested a recording of the programme to assess the content.

NDTV informed Ofcom that it was not able to provide the requested recording due to a fault with its recording equipment.

The failure by the Licensee to record and provide the material prevented Ofcom from assessing it. Therefore, Ofcom’s Decision is that the Licensee is in breach of Licence Conditions 11(2)(a) and (b).
