Meera Syal & Abhay Deol join cast of Disney Channel’s ‘Spin’

Popular British star, Meera Syal and Bollywood’s Abhay Deol, have been confirmed to join the cast of Disney Channel’s original movie ‘Spin’.

The film helmed by ‘Desert Dolphin’ filmmaker, Manjari Makijany, revolves around an Indian-American teen who learns she has a passion for creating DJ mixes that blend the textures of her Indian heritage and the world around her. She discovers that she has a natural gift for creating beats and producing music but must find the courage to follow her true inner talent.

Talking to Variety, Makijany said, “Spin is a special project that is giving me an opportunity to introduce my culture in a very authentic way. The team at Disney is committed and passionate about representation and have been extremely supportive of my vision from casting a talented Indian actor such as Abhay Deol and the fantastic Meera Syal, to smaller details in the story that reflect the culture.”

The project goes on the floors this month and will premiere on Disney Channel in 2021.
