It was earlier being speculated that Kangna Ranaut would be roped in to play the role of Sarabjit Singh’s sister, Dalbir Kaur, in a biopic to be directed by Hansal Mehta. ��However, the project will now be directed by ‘Mary Kom’ (2014) director, Omung Kumar, instead.
Confirming his association with the project, Kumar said, “Yes, I will be directing and co-producing ‘Sarabjit’. Even Though I have three scripts lined up, this will be my next film after ‘Mary Kom’.”
However, Zeishan Quadri, the co-producer of the film, says it is too early to announce whether Ranaut would be doing the project.
“We’d love to work with Kangana… she gives everything she has to a role. But we have not yet finalised any actor so far which is why I wouldn’t want to make a premature announcement,” Quadri said.
Shooting for the film will��begin��from October this year, therefore an announcement confirming the cast is expected soon.
