Manoj Muntashir says Akshay Kumar inspired new lyrics for Teri Mitti

Following last week’s release of the soulful song Terri Mitti, paying tribute to the brave men and women currently on the frontline helping fight the coronavirus, its lyricist Manoj Muntashir has credited international superstar Akshay Kumar with inspiring him for the lyrics.

Originally featuring in the patriotic blockbuster Kesari, the lyrics were changed to feature a Coronavirus theme to acknowledge the efforts being put in to help end the virus which has so far claimed more than 800 lives in India.

Since being heard by people from across the world, the song has made a huge impact and has been well received by many. Muntashir re-called his conversation with Akshay Kumar when the actor approached him about releasing this song.

Muntashir, said: “One day I got a call from Akshay Sir about turning the Kesari song on patriotism to a tribute to doctors fighting the Coronavirus. He just kept repeating, ‘They are Gods. We can’t repay the debt we owe them but at least we can acknowledge their contribution.’ I thought that was a great idea. I asked Akshay sir to give me two days. But as soon as we disconnected the phone call and I went out for a walk, all the lyrics for the song came to me and I handed them over to Akshay Sir.”

The song’s lyrics beautifully captures the gratefulness and appreciation of the world to all the key service providers currently working to keep the rest of us safe. Akshay Kumar’s drive and passion for such a project is testament to his heart of gold as he continues to lead the way in helping those affected by Covid-19.

As well as the recent song release, Akshay Kumar also donated Rs 2.5 crore (£2.5 million) to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s PM CARES FUND, while he has also taken to social media to encourage positivity and hosted the virtual concert Sanjeet Setu, which brought together some of India’s biggest names to help the country’s efforts against the coronavirus.
