Man arrested after allegedly urinating on woman on Air India flight

A 34-year old man has been arrested by police for allegedly urinating on a woman on an Air India flight,

Shankar Mishra from Mumbai was reportedly drunk when the incident took place on a New York to Delhi flight, in November.

He was detained by police in Bengaluru. He was taken to Delhi on Saturday, where he was put in custody for 14 days while police investigate. If convicted, Mishra faces up to three years in prison. He has already been fired from the bank he was employed with.

Air India CEO Campbell Wilson was cited in The Indian Express saying, “Internal investigations into whether there were lapses by other staff are ongoing on aspects, including the service of alcohol on the flight, incident handling, complaint registration on board and grievance handling. As a responsible airline brand, we have initiated the following steps with a view to materially strengthen and improve how such incidents would be addressed in future.”

Since the incident, one pilot and four cabin crew members have been removed from the roster.
