Mallika Sherawat: Glamorous no more?

When an actor is best known to portray a particular type of character, it can become difficult for them to be offered anything else. However, many have proved that it is not impossible, and actress Mallika Sherawat has decided to change her direction in the types of roles she now does.

Best known for her glamorous item numbers, Sherawat has announced that she now wants to take up more serious roles and will be refusing performances that she has done before. Times of India reported the actress stating, “Now I want to do performance-oriented roles. I don’t want to do glamorous roles and item songs. It is a conscious decision that I have taken. I do get lots of offers for item songs and glam roles but it is a deliberate choice not to do it.”

Determined to show the world that she’s not just a pretty face, in her forthcoming film ‘Dirty Politics’, Sherawat will be seen playing a character based on a real person, where her fashion styling will be completely desi’. Based on the mysterious murder of Bhanwari Devi from Jodhpur, Sherawat will be playing the character of Anoki Devi. The film is set to release later this year.
