Madhuri Dixit’s Marathi production takes off

After her magnificent reign in the world of Hindi Cinema, the queen of Bollywood, Madhuri Dixit will soon be making her debut in the Marathi film industry with the upcoming film, ‘Slice-of-life’.

Speaking to Mumbai Mirror, Dixit highlighted that filmmaking was “the ultimate team sport” as she took on the role of producer with a ‘Slice-of-life’, a Marathi comedy. “The film will make you realise that freedom is a gift only you can give yourself,” she said, adding that the film’s unit includes some of the best talents from both the Hindi and Marathi cinema.

‘Ventilator’ (2016) actor Rahul Pethe and ‘Natasamrat’ (2016) star, Mrunmayee Deshpande, play protagonists in the film, which has been written by ‘Mumbai Meri Jaan’ (2008) and ‘Tendulkar Out’ (2013) writer, Yogesh Vinayak Joshi.

The filming of ‘Slice-of-life’, recently commenced in the Mumbai suburb of Malad with Dixit, her husband Dr Sriram Nene and Dixit’s mother, Snehlata present. The cast and crew also took part in a pre-holi celebration on set.

The film is planned to be shot in Mumbai at real locations in a start to finish schedule. “After being in front of the camera for more than thirty years, it feels like a privilege to be donning the producer’s hat for the first time. I wholeheartedly believe in our talented director, Swapnaneel Jayakar, who is now leading an equally talented cast. Mrunmayee and Rahul are both fantastic actors,” shared Dixit.
