Laloo Yadav support ZEE’s cricket league

ZEE Network’s Indian Cricket League (ICL) has found support from Indian politician Laloo Prasad Yadav, Railway Minister, India.

Mr. Prasad, who is also the Bihar Cricket Association president, said: “It is a good initiative for cricket and its growth. It will give rise to competition and good players will be encouraged. The parallel league is a good thing for those who complain that they were not selected or ignored. This competition will be good for spotting good players and create a pool of talent.”

At a press conference, Mr. Prasad said Railways۪ would offer its stadiums to the ICL for holding the proposed Twenty-20 tournament and charge less.

Last Wednesday, the Board of Control for Cricket in India said any player associating himself with the ICL would not get any benefits from the board.

In other ICL news, ZEE Network has unveiled the official website for its league located at www.indiancricketleague.in. The website will also allow aspiring cricketers to apply for the ICL.

“We have been getting thousands of mails, letters and queries from aspiring cricketers who don’t know how to apply for the ICL. With the website, a single point of information and application of interest will exist for all,” Business Head of ICL, Himanshu Mody, said in a press release.
