Kyunki Saans…ready for another generation leap

Balaji?s most popular show on STAR Plus Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi, is gearing for its second generation leap, scheduled for early next year, according to Mid-Day magazine.

As part of this preparation, the production house is busy supervising the construction of a lavish set at Chitrart Studios, Hiranandani, Powai. This will be the ?most expensive set? Balaji has ever created.

Says the show?s creative head, Shivangi, ?The set is currently in the early stages of construction ? it should be ready by November-end or early December. Once the leap happens next year, Kyunki will be entirely shot in the new set.?

As part of the generation jump, Ba (Sudha Shivpuri) will die before the leap happens. There will be a new actress brought in to play the young Tulsi; both the new and the old Tulsi (Smriti Z Iraani) will take the story forward.

The Smita-Salim duo have been given the task of constructing the set. Smita Gupta, one of the partners, says, ?We have made most Balaji sets. The new Kyunki set is the biggest assignment we have undertaken. The look will be that of a modern and contemporary household, and the interiors will be plush and tastefully done.?

When asked how expensive the set would be, Smita says, ?The price is quoted only after the set is complete. I can definitely say it is on the higher end, and the most expensive project Balaji has ever undertaken. The cost of the K Street Pali Hill set (which we made) was Rs 2 crore. This one will definitely go beyond that.?
