Kunal Kohli pays hefty price for ‘Phir Se’ clearance

Phir Se still

Filmmaker Kunal Kohli is said to have paid a hefty price to get clearance on the release of his next ‘Phir Se’ after a plagiarism row.

Kohli tweeted, Supreme Court clears #PhirSe for release after an appeal was filed. Hon judges asked us to go for a settlement. I agreed, as I do not believe in fighting with members of my fraternity. Hon judges felt creative people should settle to promote creativity & culture. Case is finally over. Release date to be announced soon.”

India.com reports that Kunal had to pay a compensation of Rs. 60 lakh to writer Jyoti Kapoor for lifting the story and script of her film ‘RSVP’, for which Saif Ali Khan and Ayushman Khurana had been approached. Kapoor had alleged that the film is based on her script, which she once discussed with Kohli.

‘Phir Se’ starring Jennifer Winget, was initially set for a release in May.
