KJo buys rights of Pakistani song for 'HSKD' album

Karan Johar is known to go all out for the music of his films and the forthcoming ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ will be no different. BizAsia can reveal that the filmmaker has bought the rights of popular Pakistani song Main Tenu Samjhawan Ki and that it will be reworked for the Varun Dhawan and Alia Bhatt starrer.

The original song is sung by the immensely talented Rahat Fateh Ali Khan but for the ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ soundtrack, Johar has roped in none other than Arijit Singh to give his vocals to it. A source from Dharma Productions told Mumbai Mirror, “Karan has closely monitored the music of the film. He sat through almost every recording. Mein Tenu Samjhawan Ki is a soulful romantic song and comes at a very crucial point in the film. In fact, Karan has also been instrumental in the styling of the song”.

It is thought that Johar has zeroed in on Singh after being hugely impressed with Mast Magan in ‘2 States’ (2014). No doubt this song will be a very special addition to the soundtrack of ‘Humpty Sharma Ki Dulhania’ and one that the audiences and music-lovers should be extra excited about.
