As recently reported by BizAsia, Kareena Kapoor Khan was quoted by an external source as having said that she has rejected the remake of ‘Sadma’ (1983). However, the film’s spokesperson has now denied this.
Speaking toMid-Day, spokesperson Himanshu Jhunjhunwala said, “There’s no truth in the stories doing the rounds. Neither has Kareena turned down the project, nor has the film been shelved. We aren’t saying that Kareena is on board, nor are we saying she has rejected the film. I would request journalists to at least confirm with us or the director before filing any rubbish.”
The film’s director, Lloyd Baptista, refused to comment on whether or not Vidya Balan has also been approached for the same role, stating, “No decision shall be rushed. The names will be revealed after being locked.”
The original 1983 release had Sridevi in the lead role opposite Kamal Haasan and went on to become a milestone in the actress’ career.
