Karan Johar rejects Boney Kapoor’s TV offer

Hugely successful filmmaker, Karan Johar has rejected Boney Kapoor’s offer of acquiring his movies for satellite channel, Sahara One.

Boney Kapoor, who was recently named as head of Sahara One Media and Entertainment Ltd (Sahara One), was hoping to acquire the movies to revive the channel’s fortunes.

According to reports, Boney offered Karan Rs 150 crore, seeking purchase for three films of Dharma Productions- ‘Agneepath’, ‘Short Term Shaadi’ and Ayaan Mukerji’s next starring Ranbir Kapoor.

Obviously, Karan showed no interest in the offer. Says a source, “Karan, to say the least, was flabbergasted. He was right in not reciprocating. The offer was too miserly.”

The offer was rather low considering just one of the three films would cost nearly 100 crore. Explaining why the offer was far too less compared to Karan’s expectations, the source says, “On a conservative basis too, the making of Agneepath would be no less than Rs 70-80 crore. So how can Karan sell out three movies including Agneepath at just Rs 150 crore?”
