Karan Johar could shelve ‘Takht’?

Karan Johar has found himself in hot water with his most elaborate project yet, ‘Takht’. Netizens are putting pressure on the director to either drop his writer or expect his film to be boycotted.

Reported on The Asian Age, the outrage follows after the ‘Takht’ writer Hussain Haidry tweeted on ‘Hindu terrorism’. This caused many to express their anger and have given Johar two options, to either replace Haidry or to expect backlash. The ‘Kalank’ (2020) director has yet to comment on the situation and his decision in light of what has happened.

A close friend of Johar said, “He may decide to drop the project since there is no film without the writer. On the other hand, if the furore dies down after a while, he may consider keeping Hussain onboard. But at the moment, the option of continuing with Hussain seems unlikely, given the volume of protest.”

This isn’t the first time Johar has found himself embroiled in controversy, previously the filmmaker was under attack for hiring Pakistani actor, Fawad Khan for his film ‘Ae Dil Hai Mushkil’ (2016).
