Kangna to direct comedy film next year

With Kangna Ranaut unveiling the poster of her upcoming release ‘Manikarnika’ yesterday, the actress has confirmed that she will direct her first film, which will be a comedy, sometime next year.

In an interview with PinkVilla, Ranaut described ‘Manikarnika’ as something that could be the “climax” of her career. She said, “A film like this gets made only once, no one is going to make it again. Since it’s come to us, we have to do complete justice to it. I can’t hope to go beyond this script, this film could well be the climax of my acting career so I’m going to give it the time it deserves.”

She added, “And now I feel, I don’t want to just waste time going in a loop. And I want to move on to the next space which means that I will focus on my career as a filmmaker and if I act, I act in my films. So I was telling Krissh in the morning that he was the last director I’m working with and he was like, ‘So that means you’re doing your next 10 films with me?’. And I was like ‘No. I’m not doing my next 10 films with you.’ (laughs) So there were all kind of jokes floating around. I don’t think anyone’s taking me seriously but I mean it.”

She concluded, “After Manikarnika, I’m directing my film.” When probed further to give out details about the movie, she said, “The genre is a comedy.”
