Some Bollywood actors are able to fit into a persona that the audience can identify with, and there are some actors who have performed well in their out-of- box characters, but the audience isn’t always able to relate to them. Actress Kalki Koechlin falls into the latter. She has seen commercial success at the box office, but has been more appreciated by the critics, and would like to do more films for the audience if they are offered to her.
Koechlin is still struggling to earn a living and still do films that inspire her to sign on the dotted line. She doesn۪t want to be typecast. According to the Indian Express, Koechlin said, I am still struggling_working hard for my bread and butter. I have to find something that I can relate to, something that makes it real for me, believable in some way. I think I have to have live with the characters I play, and something I have not done before. I don۪t like to be repetitive. I would love to do more mass movies if they are offered to me. I think Zindagi na Milegi Dobara۪ and Yeh Jaawani hai Deewani۪ were great films to work on and I would love to do more such films.
Koechlin rose to fame in her debut in Dev D,۪ (2009) after which she was seen in many big budget films and recognized for her roles in them. She was last seen in Saif Ali Khan۪s Happy Ending۪ (2014) and will be seen in a couple of films this year, the next one being, Margarita with a Straw.۪
