All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen party (AIMIM) leader, Asaduddin Owaisi, who is known for his controversial speeches, is receiving criticism for his remark that he would not chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Hai’ even if a knife was brought to his neck. This time he has been attacked by renowned poet and writer Javed Akhtar in the parliament.

According to IANS, during a session in the parliament, Rajya Sabha MP Akhtar said, “He (Owaisi) said he will not say ‘Bharat mata ki jai’ as the Constitution does not require him to say so. The Constitution even does not ask him to wear sherwani (dress) and topi (cap)_ I don’t care to know whether saying ‘Bharat mata ki jai’ is my duty or not, it is my right.”

Owaisi’s remarks came some days after RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat suggestion that to infuse patriotism in the youth, they should be made to chant ‘Bharat Mata Ki Jai’.
