Indian version of ‘Britain’s Got Talent’ to launch

India’s hit TV channel Colors is all set to launch India’s answer to the popular UK show ‘Britain’s Got Talent’.

The show called ‘India’s Got Talent’ will be produced by Synergy Adlabs. The talent hunt will be spread across geographies and aims to unearth interesting talent, ranging from Dandiya to ‘shayari’ and ‘nautanki’ to Lavani. It will be launched in April 2009.

Ashvini Yardi, programming head, Colors, said, “India will witness a show where all only talent matters. Anyone with any talent can be a part of the show as long as the performance is distinctive and can entertain the nation.”

The format was created by Simon Cowell, the much-feared judge of American Idol, FremantleMedia’s singing reality show.

Patrick Schult, managing director, FremantleMedia Asia, says, “Audiences from all age groups have propelled this show to the top of ratings charts in every country it has launched. There is such an incredible breadth of talent in India we can’t wait to see we uncover with the launch of India’s Got Talent in 2009.”

The UK series begins on ITV1 in May.

Colors is currently only available in India.
