India ratings: SAB TV reaches new heights

Multi Screen Media’s light entertainment channel, SAB TV has reached a record high in terms of viewership, according to data for Saturday 4th September.

It peaked with 134 GRPs, outdoing its previous high of 122 GRPs that it had attained in the August this year.

The channel’s flagship show ‘Tarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah’ not only continues to remain in the top 10 list in the Hindi GEC genre but is also leading the 20:30 slot with a 4.47 TVR. The show is pitted against ‘Behenein’ on Star Plus (3.1 TVR), ‘Yahaaan Main Ghar Ghar Kheli’ on ZEE TV (3.2 TVR) and ‘Bairi Piya’ on Colors that closed with 2.1 TVR.

Speaking on the performance of the channel, SAB vice president and business head Anooj Kapoor said, “We are growing consistently and this is reflecting in our ratings. Besides, Taarak Mehta other shows like Papad Pol, Sajan Re Jhoot Maat Bolo and FIR are connecting well with families and now more and more families are spending fun filled evenings together watching SAB.”

For the same week, Star Plus added 54 points compared to the previous week, mainly thanks to its blockbuster movie screenings including the premiere of ‘Housefull’. Colors remained second but saw a slight fall by 23 GRPs over last week. ZEE TV was in third and saw an increase of 11 points. ‘Pavitra Rishta’ remained the channel’s most watched show.
