India ratings: Colors zooms to pole position

Despite India’s World Cup win on Saturday grabbing a large chunk of viewing share, Colors has managed to topple Star Plus from the top, according to data for Week 14 of 2011.

After a year hovering in second and third place, Colors has added 28 GRPs from last week by becoming India’s most watched Hindi channel. It is now 39 points ahead of Star Plus, which could only muster in 261 GRPs (last week 291), Colors meanwhile grabbed 300 GRPs (last week 272).

Since the start of the ICC Cricket World Cup, Colors has been growing every week and was the only Hindi entertainment channel that was largely unaffected during the mega event.

Sticking with cricket, the two key matches of the tournament ��� India – Sri Lanka Final clash raked in 24.8 TVRs and India – Pakistan Semi Final clash garnered 22.9 TVRs. Star Sports delivered 420 (207), Star Cricket recorded 392 (241), DD1 had 194 (91). Overall the live India cricket itself contributed to 840 GRPs this week.

ZEE TV lost 16 GRPs this week, down to 171 (187 last week). SAB TV overtook sister station Sony Entertainment Television Asia again. The light entertainment channel got 127 GRPs this week (last week 136), Sony TV managed just 120 GRPs this week (159 last week).

Imagine TV has also witnessed a dip by the loss of 11 GRPs this week, collecting 70 GRPs (last week 81).
