India ratings: 30 points between ZEE TV & Colors

With STAR Plus sitting firm at the numero uno position in India, eyeballs are on ZEE TV and Colors, which this week show just 30 points seperating the two channels.

According to TAM data released for week 8 of 2009, Colors has seen a decline in GRPs, from 259 to 234. Its channel share has been reduced by 1 per cent point and currently stands at 21 per cent. ‘Balika Vadhu’ continues to be the most watched programme on the channel with a TVR of 7.2.

Colors loss is ZEE TV�۪s gain with GRPs remaining more or less the same in week 8. ZEE TV registered 204 GRPs and a relative share in the GEC pie stands at 18 per cent, same as last week. Its reality dance show, ‘Dance India Dance’, is getting popular by the day. The latest week TVR for the show is 4.13. Three of its shows feature in the Top 10 programmes list.

STAR Plus has increased its GRPs from 278 in Week 7 to 302 in Week 8. In the latest week, the channel has increased its share by 3 per cent points and stands at 27 per cent. While its top rated show, ‘Bidayi’, has managed to garner a TVR of 6.7, ‘Yeh Rishta Kya Kehlata Hai’, which has recorded a TVR of 6.2, is climbing the popularity charts and is the third most watched show on Hindi GECs.

STAR Plus also aired the Hindi movie, ‘Singh is Kinng’, on Saturday ��� which fetched a rating of 3.3.

Sony Entertainment Television Asia is at a distant No. 4 with 75 GRPs. Its channel share stands at 7 per cent. It has retained its position from last week, followed by NDTV Imagine, which has grabbed a share of 6 per cent. Its GRPs have risen from 62 in Week 7 to 73 in Week 8. STAR One, with 61 GRPs, has garnered a 5 per cent share of the GEC pie.

Among the few most watched programmes are ‘Jai Shri Krishna’ and ‘Uttaran’ on Colors; ‘Kis Desh Mein Hai Meraa Dil’ on STAR Plus; and ‘Betiyann Ghar Ki Lakshmi’ and ‘Chhoti Bahu’ on ZEE TV.
