Huma Qureshi was first choice for ‘Raees’?

With so many young beauties gracing the big screen from the Indian film industry, it looks like filmmakers are a bit spoilt for choice. So it comes to no surprise that apparently, film makers of the upcoming Shah Rukh Khan venture��’Raees’, first had their hearts set on actress Huma Qureshi to play his opposite.

With Mahira Khan now signed for the role,��Pinkvilla reported a source revealing, “Huma Qureshi was first approached by the makers. They thought Huma would fit the bill and also they wanted a fresh pairing of sorts. But then, they got Mahira on board because the character required the actress to have a certain kind of mannerism and lingo and being a Pakistani, Mahira totally nailed it.”

Talking a little about the film’s background, the source went onto add,��”The film is based in the backdrop of the Muslim ghetto in Gujarat and ‘Raees’ is essentially a story of this man who becomes powerful. The heroine’s role is also a prominent one – that of SRK’s wife, a Muslim woman.”

Set to release on 3rd July, the Rahul Dholakia directorial will also star Nawazuddin Siddiqui.
