Hotstar officially becomes Disney+ Hotstar

Star India’s popular digital platform, Hotstar has been rechristened as Disney+ Hotstar.

The change has taken place in India and is expected to be rolled out in other territories subsequently. Disney+ Hotstar will stream content not just from the Star India library but also global shows from the Disney library.

A press conference scheduled to take place in Mumbai on Friday, is expected to give more details about the newly launched Disney+ Hotstar plans in India.

Incidentally, Disney+ makes its official launch in India and the UK/Europe this month itself. Disney became the owner of Hotstar in 2017, as a part of its acquisition of Fox Studios, which includes the Star India group.
