Gaurav Chopra joins the cast of ‘Sanjivani’ in lead role

Producer Siddharth Malhotra has proved his insightful and deep understanding of the television business time and again. His recent announcement about the 3-year leap in his iconic show ‘Sanjivani’ has gotten viewers across the nation excited. Today, the producer finally revealed the protagonist of the show after this leap – the celebrated and immensely talented Gaurav Chopra who joins the cast in the leading role opposite Surbhi Chandna.

Chopra has been recognised as one of the most gifted actors in the industry. He has previously worked on multiple shows including ‘Uttaran’ and ‘Bigg Boss’ on television, ‘Love, Lust and Confusion’ on the web and has also portrayed key characters in films including the Oscar-nominated ‘Blood Diamond’. As the new lead in ‘Sanjivani’, Chopra will be the love interest of Ishani (Chandna) as she recovers from the deep hurt caused by her fiancé.

“We were sure that the new addition has to be someone nuanced who will be the perfect partner for Dr. Ishani after all she goes through in the show. He will play a key role in her life as she battles her emotions and learns to grow out of her pain. We will see the foundation of a new relationship being built and Gaurav is absolutely perfect for it”, says Malhotra.

Elaborating on Chopra’s character, he adds, “Gaurav will play the new parallel lead. He is a rich well-educated investor, who is the new owner of Sanjivani. He values relationships over materialism and has a unique way of getting things done. He is respectful towards women andthe marginalised. He respects doctors and is obsessed about the well-being of patients.”

Chopra says “Last year when I was doing Devdas, Siddharth had come in and seen it with his wife. That’s when he mentioned that he had something in mind for me. He called me soon after and had a very clear idea about my character. I heard about the role and I could very easily imagine myself doing it. In their words, they were looking for somebody to bring in some gravitas into the story and also a new relationship with Ishani – the protagonist of the show. As far as coming on board after two other senior actors – Rohit and Mohnish ji, I can’t say too much because their tracks have ended before I’ve entered. I am here to spearhead this new change, this new phase, this new story and of course I’m excited! And a little anxious to to see how the audience reacts. Fingers crossed!”
