Farah Khan choreographs Zingaat remake for ‘Dhadak’

For Karan Johar’s forthcoming film ‘Dhadak’, a remake of the Marathi film ‘Sairat’, the director has roped in his good friend Farah Khan to choreograph one of the songs in the film.

Reported on Mid-day, Johar wants to recreate the hit dance number – “Zingaat”, and felt there was only one person for the job. Khan who initially had reservations about taking on the task, changed her mind and the dance number was film in January this year. So what convinced the choreographer in the end? “Karan said that his director Shashank [Khaitan] was scared to call me, and that he really wants me to do a song for the movie. The minute he said that the song in question is Zingaat, I told him that I won’t do it because it’s a cult song,” said Khan.

Khan went on to say that Johar and Khaitan both had different ideas of how the song was to be delivered. “Karan said he wanted it to be big and commercial, it has to be the ‘item song’ of the movie. On the other hand, the director wanted it to be natural and earthy.” Laughing, Khan said the concept in the end was “A mix of commercial and candid.”

‘Dhadak’ starring Jahnvi Kapoor and Ishaan Khattar is slated to release on the 20th July.
