EXCLUSIVE: Sony SAB TV set for for launch on Freeview

Sony SAB TV is set to become the first Asian TV channel to launch on the Freeview platform, according to BizAsia sources.

The channel, which turned free-to-air in June on Sky Digital has since also extended its reach by launching on Freesat. Now, the latest buzz is that the light entertainment channel will be launching on the digital terrestrial platform, Freeview.

If true, the news will be a huge boost for the broadcaster as Freeview is available as standard on most digital TV sets and will give the channel a much more wider reach than what it gets on Sky Digital and Freesat.

Sources have told BizAsia that the Sony SAB TV will be available on Freeview channel 121 from September.

At the time of filing this article, BizAsia was awaiting a response from Sony SAB TV’s parent company, Multi Screen Media.
