As BizAsia exclusively hinted in our Industry Whisper a couple of weeks back, Rajan Singh is the latest media tycoon to leave the industry after he exclusively confirmed to BizAsia that he is no longer with Star TV.

BizAsia understands from reliable sources that Singh left yesterday after completing formalities in Mumbai. Whilst it is not known where he is heading next, there have been rumours of Singh retiring from his successful 20-year in Asian broadcasting. However, knowing Singh, it is unlikely for him to sit back and retire from the ever changing media scene. BizAsia has heard that he is planning to set up something in the UK Asian media in the three subjects he is renowned for – Radio, TV and events.

During his 4-year reign as Executive Vice President for Star TV, he has pushed Star TV to new heights in the UK and USA – the two territories he was looking after. Under his management, Star TV was the first major broadcaster to get three of its channels on BARB. He also has been responsible for the successful Star Parivaar Live events in the UK, launching Star Plus HD and replacing Star News (ABP News) with Star Jalsha.

Prior to joining Star TV in 2010, Singh was responsible for taking Sony Entertainment Television Asia to the top. Before that, Singh headed the operations for ZEE TV UK and turned that into a successful model too. He also was a part of Sunrise Radio in Leicester before it was morphed into Sabras Radio.

Both Yeshpal Sharma (Star TV UK) and Star TV USA offices will report to Sanjay Gupta, Chief Operating Office, Star India.

Only a few days back, BizAsia confirmed that Sunil Rohra was leaving B4U Network after ten years.
