Emraan Hashmi did not judge Mohammad Azharuddin

The release of Mohammad Azharuddin’s biopic is leading to much debate about the controversial cricketers life once again. Having been accused of��match fixing, many have judged Azharuddin. However, Emraan Hashmi, who plays the cricketer in ‘Azhar’, avoided judging him.

Speaking to Deccan Chronicle, Hashmi said, “It was very important for me as an actor not to judge Azhar for what he did personally or professionally…��I went into the script as a neutral party. It was the only way I could approach the character with honesty and sincerity. And if you insist on an answer, I�۪d say, no, I don�۪t think he was guilty.”

Hashmi also added that he considers Azharuddin a good friend today, as they spent over a year together during the preparations for the biopic.

The film has had a fairly good opening and has won Hashmi much praise for his performance.
