Disha Parmar is about to return to the TV screens, after a gap of three years, with the much awaited ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hai 2’. It’s something many who loved the 2011 show are excited about and to see her reprising a role which was played by Sakshi Tanwar in the original is set to be quite a treat for fans of the show and of Parmar’s.

BizAsiaLive.com caught up with the actress ahead of the show’s launch on Sony TV tomorrow.

‘Bade Acche Lagte Hain’ was an iconic show with Ram Kapoor & Sakshi Tanwar. ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hai 2’ is a reboot that many are excited about. How do you feel stepping into the show, given its legacy?
It feels amazing to be stepping into the show because it was such a loved and well-received show. Now that we’re coming back after 10 years, the characters are a bit different but the story is similar at heart. I’m excited for people to see it but I’m nervous too.

Priya’s character in the 2011-2014 show is memorable for many things but most memorable is her undeniable chemistry with Ram. You’re reuniting with Nakuul for this show as he plays Ram. How do you feel presenting yourselves in different avatars when you have ‘Pyar Ka Dard Hai’ (PKDH) that people remember you by?
Priya in the first season was really loved, that’s true. Even I loved watching Sakshiji in that character. But this Priya is a bit different from the first which you’ll realise once the show is on air because I don’t know how much I can reveal. It’s a very different character and the traits are different. I’m excited to collaborate with Nakuul again. It’s going to be very different to PKDH because it’s 2012 when that show was on. It’s now 2021 so almost 10 years. We have both changed as actors and evolved as humans so it’s similar yet it’s different. I’m looking forward to working with him, it should be a lot of fun.

What for you is the biggest challenge of presenting something familiar (the show & your pairing) with a fresh perspective? How different will your chemistry be this time?
You know, frankly there isn’t any challenge because the characters we are playing are so different to PKDH and that itself makes it look a lot different and gives it a fresh perspective. Because of the show itself and the characters, a lot of our work is already done. We don’t have to worry about looking the same or how we used to be before. That part has been solved by the story and the characters. People will see the stark difference for sure.

What do you personally most identify with about Priya’s character? What do you like/dislike about her?
Firstly, she’s a woman of today. She speaks her heart out. She doesn’t care if people might hate her whatever truth she says. She never lies and is very blunt. I think these are some of the characteristics that today’s women have. That’s something I really like about my character. She’s a rain hater and I have my days when I hate the rain. (laughs) I crib a lot about it. That part is quite similar to me. She’s a very stubborn and headstrong woman and these are the things I like the most about her. What I dislike is that she can be a but rude at times. I think that’s the only thing that can be disliked. But then she has her reasons for that too.

Priya’s look in the show is simple & traditional. Did you or do you have any input in this?
Yes, that’s true. I love her look. Initially I was a bit surprised when I was told there was no make-up. Nothing at all. In television when you’re told there’s no make-up, you still feel like there will be a little. But here, there’s literally no make-up. I only get to cover my under-eyes which is very little. So only that bit of concealer is applied on my face. Other than that, there’s no make-up. There’s straight hair and very basic clothes. This is something I am usually like in my real life too. I don’t apply much make-up. I wear very easy, breezy, chill, simple clothes. So Priya is pretty much similar to how Disha is.

You’ve recently tied the knot – congrats! You said ‘Bade Achhe Lagte Hai 2’ worked out very quickly & you started shooting not long after your wedding. What was the pull of this show for you that you couldnt let it pass you by?
Thank you so much for the congratulations on my wedding. We actually started shooting within 15 days of me getting married. My mehndi wasn’t even gone by then but I was on set shooting promos. The pull was the franchise that it is and the first season was such a big hit. And, more than me, it was Rahul who was very supportive and told me it’s OK and that I should go back to work. I was a bit skeptical that we will not get to travel and it wasn’t even a month since our wedding. But he’s been so amazing, supportive and encouraging. He made everything so much easier for me to go back on set. I think I would like to give him all the credit for being such a supportive husband.

And finally, does Ram’s character have any interesting similarities to Rahul?
Well, I think Rahul is as romantic as Ram is and he also loves baarish just like Ram does. These are the main similarities between Ram and Rahul.
