‘Dil’ to be remade without Madhuri Dixit & Aamir Khan?

‘Dil’ (1990) is a film much cherished even today. What with the innocence of a love which was not accepted by the lovers’ respective families, Madhuri Dixit and Aamir Khan played the perfect couple who stand the test of time and overcome any obstacles that come their way. As talks of a remake emerge, BizAsia has learnt that a contemporary version of the film will not include the two leads of the original.

Director Indra Kumar who directed the 1990 original was on the look-out for a script of a love story for modern times. However, when none that were coming his way were satisfying his desire, he was made the suggestion of remaking ‘Dil’.

Early indications show that his daughter Shweta would be playing female lead having made a not-so-impactful debut with Himesh Reshammiya in 2008’s ‘Karzzz’. Who will play the male lead remains to be seen. However, whether any new actors will go quite the right justice to the original is what will prove to be worth a watch.
