Dharma Productions rejects plagiarism claims surrounding ‘Homebound’

Dharma Productions has issued a strong statement after author Puja Changiowala alleged that elements of its upcoming film ‘Homebound’ had been lifted from her book. The production house firmly rejected the accusation, describing the claims as “baseless” and “entirely unfounded”.

Changiowala had suggested that the film’s premise and certain narrative beats bore similarities to her published work, sparking debate across social media. In response, Dharma Productions clarified that ‘Homebound’ is an original concept developed independently by its creative team, with no reference to or inspiration from any external literary material.

The studio reiterated that it takes intellectual property rights “very seriously” and would never compromise on ethical or legal standards in its creative processes. It also urged audiences not to draw conclusions based on unverified allegations.
