Bollywood actor Shah Rukh Khan has millions of fans all over the world, and some of them have done pretty crazy things for him. One such fan across the border however, landed in jail recently, for taking his love for the actor, beyond legal compliance.
The Pakistan Wildlife Department arrested Jahangir Khan, a shoemaker, who made Peshawari sandals with deer skin for Khan, since killing of deer is prohibited.
According to buzz, the Khan’s cousin in Peshawar, approached the shoemaker and asked him to make two pairs of Peshawari chappals for the actor, so she can take them to India with her on her visit.
A local police official reported saying according to DNA, “Apparently Jahangir Khan is a big fan of Shah Rukh and decided to send the Bollywood star a special gift, Peshawari sandals made out of deer skin, from his side.Soon after the news spread, the wildlife department officials contacted us and filed a complaint. We had to go and pick up Jahangir who is now behind bars.”
A wildlife official in Peshawar confirmed that probe was on to check if the sandals weremade of deer skin or using any other animal hide, & that the shoemaker will have to face fine and prosecution under wildlife laws if charges against him are proved.
However, the latest update on the report is that shoemaker Khan hasbeen released from jail. A wildlife official said, We have taken the deer skin chappals for examination to see whether they are made of deer skin or of other animal. We۪ll find out the result on Monday”.
