Deepika vs Katrina for ‘Masterchef’ feature film?

Popular TV show ‘Masterchef’, when brought to India, has done as well as it has around the world. So much so has it’s success been life-changing that��Monali Sen Choudhury has scripted a two-hour feature film on a woman’s journey and passion for cooking shaping her life. News has it that Deepika Padukone and Katrina Kaif are contending for the lead’s role.

Producer Ram Mirchandani told Mumbai Mirror, “It’s a human interest story. The protagonist has a keen interest in and a talent for cooking. It becomes a cathartic experience for her, taking her to the top of her profession”.

Interestingly, although Mirchandani has denied such casting rumours, there are going to be international actors in the cast too. He reveals, “We are in talks with Academy Award winner Colin Firth and Oscar-nominated actor for The Imitation Game, Benedict Cumberbatch, for this role which has a hint of romance. Both the actors know about Masterchef and have shown interest. So the leading lady who is our film’s hero could share screen space with a Hollywood star”.

The film is expected to go on the floors next year.
