Deepika on making ‘Mahabharat’: “It will take five times longer to execute”

Four months ago, Deepika Padukone made the announcement of her second production ‘Mahabharat’. Though there haven’t been any further developments since then, Padukone remains undeterred by the scale of the project.

Reported on Mid-day, Padukone who will be essaying the Pandavas’ wife, Draupadi, doesn’t feel it is necessary to make an announcement just for the sake of it, “I am not someone who believes in making an announcement to create buzz,”…”After a lot of thought. I was busy with Chhapaak promotions, so there was no time to sit down and discuss [this film]. We have yet to ascertain the cast and crew.”

In this production the story will be told from Draupadi’s perspective, the ‘Chhapaak’ (2020) actor understands there is much to be considered in comparison to the average Bollywood movie, “Making the Mahabharat is not like making any other film. From the scale of production to the budget and costumes, it will take five times longer to execute. I cannot turn it around in a short time frame. It is my most ambitious project.”

If all goes to plan, the film is slated for a Diwali 2021 release date.
