'Mad In India' to go off-air

The troubled stand-up comedy show ‘Mad In India’ on Star Plus, will be ending in mid-May, BizAsia can confirm.

The show, which launched with much fanfare failed to generate any major interest. It led to changes in the format and presenter Manish Paul wanting to leave the show. ‘Mad In India’ launched as an opposition to Colors’ successful show ‘Comedy Nights With Kapil’.

Sunil Grover who previously played the character of Gutthi in the Colors show defected to Star Plus for ‘Mad In India’. He confirmed to BizAsia that there are three more episodes of ‘Mad In India’ to air, after that the show will go off-air.

In a text to BizAsia, Grover said, “3 more episodes will be aired. That’s it.” This means the show’s final episode will broadcast on Sunday 11th May at 21:00. It is not yet known what will take the Sunday night slot.

Star Plus refused to comment on the changes that will take place after ‘Mad In India’ ends.
