Channel S to launch a new service on Sky, Apna MA TV?
Popular Bengali broadcaster Channel S is reportedly preparing to expand its presence in the UK market with the launch of a second service, tentatively titled Apna MA TV.
Details surrounding the proposed channel remain limited at this stage. However, it is understood that a broadcasting licence for the new service was issued by Ofcom only recently, signalling that formal groundwork for the launch is underway.
The name Apna MA TV has drawn attention within industry circles due to its similarity to MATV, which recently had its Ofcom licence revoked following a significant regulatory breach. Despite the resemblance in name, the new service is not believed to have any connection to the defunct MATV.

If launched, Apna MA TV will operate as a sister channel to Channel S, which has been broadcasting on Sky since the early 2000s and has established itself as a leading platform serving the British Bengali community.
