The UK’s first local Asian news broadcaster, Channel 44 is preparing for its launch on Sky later this month.

As revealed first on BizAsiaLive.com, Channel 44 will focus on current affairs for the Asian demographic locally. It will also have news updates from Pakistan. It is owned by the same group as Channel 24 and City 42 (Lahore channel) in Pakistan.

Channel 44 tests follow the exit of Muslim Ummah TV, which has now been removed from the Sky EPG. Channel 44 will take its EPG slot, 854 from September-end.

Currently, Channel 44 will begin its test transmission imminently but is showing a black level.
